I went to this jail after being imprisoned for a marijuana pipe. Because I lost my job when I got arrested, I couldn't pay for the probation guy (I had never been in jail before, so I thought probation was a better option than pleading not guilty and having a jury trial for a marijuana pipe..this was a HUGE mistake). Anyway while I was there I learned so many things!! Let's see...I learned art (finger-painting, specifically on cinder block).
Every1 who thinks IRC Jail sucks.then PLEASE rethink , go to Palm bch Jail and you'll consider this jail a dang Hotel... 450 inmates is NOTHING, and 10 to 20 inmates a day compared to the 200 they process at Palm bch is also another plus, U will b bonded out of IRC before u even get processed in PBCJail... And if u think the food sucks , then once again, go stay at PBC County jail..... I guarantee, after a short stay at the PBC jail and XSPECIALLLLLY IF U GET PUT ON THE WEST OR EAST SIDE "THE DUNGEONS" THENU WILL B CRYINGGGG TO GOD THAT U WERE IN IRC County jail!
The food at the jail was actually OK, with a bologna sandwich. Small town, so I knew some of the folks in there. Beds were standard jail beds,. Overall it was just boring. Couldn't change the TV channel. Because of the finger painting I I developed an eating habit: little debbie's. i would eat boxes and boxes and boxes of them. Swiss cake rolls, honey buns, cosmic brownies, you name it.
By far Worst Jail System In Indian RiVer County ...Cops Drive around And pull over people on site .."Profiling" Court system Corrupted ..They Never Go By the law Real Law...All there investigation Are ran By Punk's who allow people to do drugs as long as they can get a conviction..IRC Need Real Cops ...that protect and serve not that hassle and harrash everyone..No sheriff Has ever gone out there way Stepped in the black community and has tried to make a difference ...A real difference not just trying to lock up young blacks for drugs etc etc ...but a change for equal opportunity for everyone..no police should pull or stop someone because of there color ... IRC Is The Worst Place To Live ...There Jail Sucks And need to be investigated by The Florida Bar....

I eventually found myself 300 pounds heavier, and with a gambling problem to boot. I didn't leave my room much, and I felt generally ill. That's when I found the solution to all of my, and the world's, problems: Scientology.
The jail staff were friendly, and, considering the situation, as good as you can expect out of a situation where one is being imprisoned for a pot pipe on a first charge. Just cool cats doing their jobs, and they are professional and courteous.
I WAS IN THAT JAIL SEVERAL TIMES 18 TO 25 YEARS AGO!! THAT PLACE WAS A VERY DECENT JAIL TO BE IN. THE OFFICERS WERE ALL GREAT, UNDERSTANDING, AND WOULD WAYS LISTEN TO THE NEEDS OF THE INMATES!! I THANK YOU!!!
